The City of Abbotsford is updating traffic signals at four intersection locations to improve traffic flow. The intersection projects will also provide benefits to all road users including active transportation. The four intersection locations and proposed improvements are:

  • McKee Road and McKee Drive
    • Improved traffic flow through newly installed traffic signal that reduces wait times and queuing.
    • Improved intersection layout including dedicated northbound left-turn lane on McKee Road.
    • Improved pedestrian mobility through the intersection with newly installed crosswalks, accessibility letdowns, and buffered sidewalks.

  • George Ferguson Way and Babich Street
    • Improved road user safety from increased sightlines through road realignment of Babich Street.
    • Enhanced pedestrian mobility with removal of existing pedestrian island thereby reducing crossing distances along with newly installed crosswalks and accessibility letdowns.
    • Improved intersection layout with dedicated southbound right-turn and left-turn lane on Babich Street.

  • Mt.Lehman Road and Harris Road
    • Improved traffic flow through newly installed traffic signal that reduces wait times and queuing.
    • Improved intersection layout with dedicated eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes on Harris Road.
    • Improved pedestrian/cyclist mobility through the intersection with newly installed crossings on all intersection legs.

  • Townline Road and Downes Road
    • Improved traffic flow through newly installed traffic signal that reduces wait times and queuing.
    • Improved intersection layout including dedicated eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes on Downes Road.
    • Improved pedestrian/cyclist mobility through the intersection with newly installed crossings on all intersection legs.
