Aquatic Services and Facilities Strategy

Consultation has concluded and the Final Aquatic Services & Facility Strategy was approved by Council on July 14, 2026.

The Final Strategy confirms the need to renew and expand Abbotsford’s aquatic infrastructure as existing facilities are operating at or beyond capacity and are aging. It recommends a decentralized three-facility model:

• A new 10-lane, 50m training pool at MSA;
• Replacement of the Community Pool at MRC; and,
• A new Community Pool at ARC

This approach supports equitable access across the community, increases aquatic capacity, and provides long-term facilities capable of meeting both community and competitive programming needs.

Additionally, Council approved a streamlined process for the implementation of the 50m pool at the MSA site. This option provides a compressed delivery approach focused on schedule efficiency, reduced design iteration and early constructability input, with fewer engagement and governance checkpoints. Advancing the MSA pool project requires Project Framing work to establish key requirements and cost estimates. This project framing work will commence as soon as professional services are secured.
