We are updating our Cemetery Master Plan. The purpose of the strategy will be to maximize the use of the existing cemetery sites based on both existing services and potential modifications to those services and the introduction of new approaches and services which are considered achievable by the community and contribute to both the community service and financial sustainability of the City's cemetery services.
The city operates four cemeteries:
Hazelwood Cemetery (34070 Hazelwood Avenue)
Musselwhite Cemetery (35000 Old Yale Road)
Aberdeen Cemetery (28417 Fraser Highway)
Mt. Lehman Cemetery (29000 Taylor Road)
The strategy looks to review cemetery trends in the lower mainland and across Canada, assess the current capacity of each of the cemetery sites and better understand the community's burial preferences, cultural practices and design considerations for cemetery spaces.
We want to hear from you!
All residents, along with those working in end-of-life services or representing faith-based organizations are encouraged to take part and share their perspectives and preferences.
Online Survey - Please take a few minutes to take the Cemetery Master Plan Survey, which is available until May 16, 2025.
In-Person/Virtual Sessions - In-person sessions will be held on April 26, 30 and May 1 and a virtual engagement session will be held on April 24. Please check the Key Dates for your Zoom meeting log-in information
