We are keeping the experiential learning alive and testing out new methods of collaboration. Hubbub #10,our end-of-term project showcase, took place in-person at City Hall on December 13, 2022. We have also posted all the projects here, online.

A Prescription For Culture

CHALLENGE:

How can we leverage culture to improve health and wellness and build community engagement and connection for systemically marginalized groups?

UFV Course: NURS 403 Nursing Practice (Instructor: Bethany Jeal)

Nursing practice will include simulation, laboratory, and clinical experiences. Students will provide nursing care to individuals, families, and population groups in community settings.

Hidden Career Stories

CHALLENGE:

Visualize the hidden careers that run our City and make it a beautiful place to live.

How might we capture the stories of our team members to both celebrate them and encourage people to consider careers in local government?

UFV Course: GD157 Digital Design Media I (Instructor: Andrew McKinley)

Introduction to digital image making in both vector and raster formats, using Adobe software, and the use of the right tool for the right task. Content-driven projects combined with workshops focus on image creation, image use, and critical reflection in visual communication contexts.

UFV Course: GD101 Fundamentals of Design (Instructor: Andrew McKinley)

An introduction to design fundamentals and visual communications practice. Through applied projects, students explore elements and principles of design, implement creative processes, apply compositional theories, and critically reflect on their design solutions.

Inspired - CHALLENGE:
What are the infill housing practice in the lower mainland?

UFV Course: GEOG 360 Introduction to Regional and Community Planning (Instructor: Afia Raja)

Concepts in the field of planning and current policy issues and debates are addressed. Partnering with a local agency, students work on addressing a planning challenge that introduces them to careers in development policy, local government, and registered professional planning.

A numerical approach to problem-solving in geography. Methods in the collection, description, analysis, and presentation of quantitative data will be addressed.
