Abbotsford is experiencing significant impacts of climate change, including the very recent floods of November 2021 and December 2025. Abbotsford has also experienced the impacts of extreme heat, wildfire, poor air quality and others. As a community, Abbotsford has the opportunity to become more resilient to the impacts of climate change. The City of Abbotsford is committed to doing what it can to protect our community and the environment in the face of increasing risks, which is why we are working on developing a Climate Resilience Strategy.

The Climate Resilience Strategy (CRS) will be a plan to help Abbotsford reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also preparing for, adapting to, and reducing the risks from climate-related events like floods, wildfire, extreme heat, and storms. The Strategy will be informed by a city-wide hazard, vulnerability, and risk assessment (HRVA).

This "low carbon resilience” approach supports our people, places and systems in becoming safer and stronger.

We want to hear from you!
