Abbotsford is committed to advancing systems integration efforts that support a vibrant community where everyone thrives. To tackle ongoing and emerging community and social issues, the City of Abbotsford is partnering with HelpSeeker and local partners to support initiatives that address social issues in an integrated manner.

The City of Abbotsford values your opinion and welcomes your input as we plan our path forward to make Abbotsford a vibrant and resilient community for everyone. The way in which we plan our response to residents' needs is essential now more than ever.

This makes your input even more valuable as we embark on building our response to issues facing Abbotsford now and in the longer term, including:

  • Coordinating better access to supports and resources
  • Supporting seniors in age-friendly communities
  • Ensuring the right childcare options for families
  • Enhancing housing options for everyone
  • Taking action on poverty and income inequality

What's Next:

Over the next 2 months, the City will continue to engage stakeholders — through a number of in-person and online community engagement strategies — to create a first of its kind, Community Integrated Infrastructure Strategy that brings together focused actions on affordable housing, child care, poverty reduction, child care, housing and homelessness

Sorry not sure if you got my question (password challenge upon submit). How can we keep council and city staff focussed on the long term intentional city planning that is sustainable, rather than being persuaded by well financed developers who want to run "their" projects (which are different from sustainable city planning). e.g. the mini city across the street from Augustine. City planning must be sustainable, intentional, progressive, supporting social justice and livability We can't let "developers" or "land owners" dictate what Abbotsford looks like, or we'll have a patchwork quilt of incoherent parts. (by the way on this page "ask us a question" is misspelled). "qeustion"

Thank you for your question. We agree that shared intentions and actions towards a well-planned, progressive and resilient Abbotsford are important and integral to ensure long-term sustainability.  It's for this reason, that we are developing Abbotsford’s first Community Infrastructure Development Strategy that focuses on the relationship between built environment and land use decisions with social needs. This is why we are focusing on interweaving actionable priorities for child care, poverty reduction, age-friendly communities, and housing and homelessness together, into an integrated strategy. Within our community engagement plan, we're connecting with a range of stakeholders including funders, developers, policy makers, all levels of government, residents, and agencies. We've also included a number of other stakeholder activities to ensure the forthcoming strategy is resident-led and represents the diverse needs of the community.

We want to hear from you and we also want to ensure that we are supporting our residents to participate in a way that is safe and supported during these times of COVID.

We have virtual resident focus groups scheduled for September 28th and September 30th. We'd be grateful for your participation and further insights.
