Consultation has concluded
The Government of BC recently approved funding to the Abbotsford School District for a new elementary school next to Eagle Mountain Park. The School District is currently in the planning stage for construction and the School is proposed to open in September 2022.
UPDATE: Public engagement was conducted in the spring and the City has reviewed the results. There will be no restrictions to park access during school hours. Instead, a "good neighbour" approach will be used to address the closed campus requirement for the school. Please do not use the areas of the park in use by the students at times such as recess and lunch. The Abbotsford School District has begun clearing the site adjacent to Eagle Mountain Park for construction of a new school. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey. Survey results are now posted under the "important links" section of this page.
BACKGROUND: The City and the School District have agreed to negotiate the shared use of the Eagle Mountain Park field during school hours. The playground, walking path, sports courts and other park ammenities will remain open for public use during school hours.
