The City of Abbotsford is planning to construct a new neighbourhood park in the West Abbotsford area to serve the needs of the local area. On October 30, 2022 the City of Abbotsford’s Parks Planning team held a public engagement event at the future “Engineer Park” site to gather feedback from the local neighbourhood about how they wanted to use the park and which park amenities should be prioritized in the design and development of the new park. The top priorities that we heard from the community from both the survey, in-person and online inputs are summarized in the Stage 1 Engagement Summary.

FUTURE PARK SITE:

The future park site consists of about 3.5 ha of relatively flat land nestled in the middle of established single detached neighbourhoods within the West Abbotsford area, north of the Fraser Highway. In addition to some of the natural features on site such as Bertrand creek, meadow grasslands and perimeter tree canopy, there are several utilities on site such as underground community detention tanks and associated infrastructure that will in part inform how the space can be used. Surrounding neighbourhoods will access the site from pedestrian walkways which will also formalize pedestrian connectivity between these neighbourhoods.

SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE PARK CONCEPT DESIGN:

Building on the feedback we received during the Stage 1 Public Engagement, a park concept plan for the future “Engineer Park” has been drafted, and the City would like to hear what you think about the proposed park concept! Share your feedback in person on May 29, 2023 at Aberdeen Elementary School or online in our survey below!

In Person Event:

When: Monday, May 29, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm

Where: Aberdeen Elementary School Gym – 2975 Bradner Road
