We expect the Grant Park Sport Fields to be complete in May 2020.

This project will see the construction of two Under Age 9 (“U-9”) baseball fields with dugouts, one synthetic field specifically designed for Abbotsford Angels' Challenger Baseball division complete with dugouts designed for participants with disabilities, eight accessible parking stalls, new fully accessible washroom building, inclusive playground, and picnic area.

Challenger Baseball gives players with cognitive or physical disabilities, age 4 to adult, the opportunity to play baseball.  No score is kept, and the goal is to create a full and fun baseball experience. Each player is teamed up with a “buddy” to help play the game. The buddy can help the player swing the bat, field the ball or move a wheelchair around the bases. From around a dozen participants at the program’s inception a couple years ago, Challenger Baseball now boasts 45 players on four separate teams. Therefore a wheelchair-friendly surface and dougouts of Challenger Field  will allow growing number of players with disabilities to enjoy baseball experience.
