Montrose Avenue Transit Exchange

A speaker that announces bus arrivals.

With bus tracking technology, there could be an app where people follow the current locations of the buses, but a speaker at the exchange could announce the arrival of buses shortly before they arrive to allow people ample time to get up and make there way to the loading area. This could be useful for bus accessibility, but also for simple convenience so users could read a book or focus on other things while waiting and the speaker could alert them when their bus was about to arrive.

Permeable street and sidewalk paving to capture rain water for trees and plantings. Would add character and function to streetscape.

Public Washrooms

Please add accessible, safe, and durable public washrooms to the transit exchange. There are none at the nearby park or elsewhere in the area, so it's a much-needed service that would make sense at a transit hub. Bus drivers will need their own washrooms anyway, so they could be added to the same building.

This is a very disappointing rendering for this exchange that turns this very quiet road into a major 4 lane road? Why? There is no justification for this. The city talks about warrants before they're willing to make improvements for safety reasons but somehow trying to justify this disgusting 4 lane monstrosity in the heart of downtown without the traffic demand to support it, with no bike lanes, and really poor accommodation for transit users?? This needs a complete rethink. This should not be a through road to private cars at all.
