Transit Exchange Opening Date & Information
The new Montrose Transit Exchange on Montrose Avenue between McDougall Avenue and South Fraser Way is nearing completion. The tentative completion date, construction schedule dependent is November 10th, 2024.
With the addition of this new transit exchange, please note the following:
Buses that are currently accommodated on McDougall Avenue will now be relocated to this exchange
Bourquin Bus Exchange will be closed following the addition of the Montrose Transit Exchange. Please watch this page for further updates on this.
BACKGROUND:
Planning is underway for a new transit exchange on Montrose Avenue between McDougall Avenue and South Fraser Way. The need for a transit exchange in this location was identified in the City's Transportation and Transit Master Plan and in the BC Transit Future Action Plan to support the future transit network, accommodate the increase in service levels, and improve the customer experience.
There is an opportunity to partner with senior levels of government on this project and there are many attributes to building a new exchange that the City would like to get public input and feedback on. Exchange features under consideration at this conceptual stage are:
new shelters and benches
new universally accessible wide sidewalks
electric vehicle charging stations
bicycle lockers
undergrounding of the overhead utilities
improved lighting
new landscaping
new crosswalks and wayfinding signage
