Welcome to Let's Talk Abbotsford

The City of Abbotsford has a role in supporting and providing services, programs and amenities that help to provide a robust quality of life for residents. Abbotsford City Council has a vision that sees Abbotsford as the Hub of the Fraser Valley; a community with a vibrant and thriving economy, with inclusive safe and green neighbourhoods, connected to convenient and affordable transportation and vibrant commercial centres built on the foundation of our cultural heritage and natural beauty.The first Abbotsford Quality of Life Survey was conducted in 2018, and subsequent surveys are conducted every 2 years. The 2024 Quality of Life Survey results will be presented to Council and will be compared with <a href="https://www.abbotsford.ca/quality">previous surveys.</a>We want to hear from you!Take the survey and let us know how you feel about your quality of life! The survey will be available from October 10 until November 9, 2024.

What Community Means to You!

The City of Abbotsford is updating Development Cost Charges (DCCs), Amenity Cost Charges (ACCs) and Community Amenity Contributions (CACs). Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are fees set by the City to recover the financial costs of development. DCC&#39;s are paid by developers and builders back to the City of Abbotsford at the Building Permit or Subdivision stage. DCC&#39;s recovered from developers are used to pay for growth related large off-site infrastructure projects such as water supply &amp; treatment, sewage collection &amp; treatment, drainage facilities, major road upgrades, fire, police, solid waste facilities and new park acquisitions. Amenity Cost Charges (ACCs) are cost charges levied on development to help pay for the costs of facilities or features that provide social, cultural, heritage, recreational, or environmental benefits to a community. ACC is a new program introduced by the Province that allows Local Governments to fund community centres, recreational facilities, libraries, daycare, and public squares, etc. from new growth.Community Amenity Contributions (CACs) are amenity contributions made by the developer as part of a rezoning process. CACs are intended to offset the cost of providing community amenities associated with new residential development. Development Cost Charges (DCC) and Amenity Cost Charges (ACC) Updates

We&#39;re updating Abbotsford&#39;s OCPTo accommodate growth in the coming decades, Abbotsford is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) and will be looking for community input to help shape the future of the City. The OCP is the City&rsquo;s key planning tool and was last updated in 2016. The Abbotsforward 2050 OCP update process will build on what&#39;s working well and look at ways to better address the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.<hr>Thank you to everyone who connected with us in-person or online throughout May to share their perspective on improving the OCP! Abbotsforward 2050 | Official Community Plan Update

The City of Abbotsford is constructing new permanent washrooms in Swensson Park, which will replace the seasonal portables installed annually during peak park use. The new washrooms will be located at the south end of the park, adjacent to the parking lot with accessible pathway connections. The new washrooms will complement the existing park amenities and will provide a safer, cleaner and more accessible alternative for park users year-round. The prefabricated washrooms are robust structures that are designed to help mitigate against common problems experienced with public toilets, such as vandalism and other undesirable behavior, and will be locked during evening hours. Construction of the new washrooms is anticipated to start in the fall of 2024, and the park will remain open to the public during the construction phase. The new washrooms are anticipated to be open to the public by winter 2024/2025. We want to hear from you!
