Implementation Update

On July 14, 2026, staff provided Council with an update on progress implementing the Arena Strategy’s nine Action Plan Directions.

Following Council’s 2025 direction to prioritize a competitive process for a privately developed arena, staff completed further analysis and determined the preferred short-term solution is a City-owned and operated, participant-focused two-sheet arena at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.

Advancing the Ex-Park Arenas project requires Project Framing work to establish key requirements and cost estimates. This project framing work will commence as soon as professional services are secured.
