Welcome to our Virtual CityStudio Hubbub #11!


We are keeping the experiential learning alive and testing out new methods of collaboration. Hubbub #11, our end-of-term project showcase, took place in-person at City Hall on April 11, 2023. We have also posted all the projects here, online.

Hubbub #11 includes CityStudio program challenges, inspired project and we are proud to host a select number of posters from CityStudio Chilliwack at our Hubbub again.

A Prescription For Culture

CHALLENGE:

How can we leverage culture to improve health and wellness and build community engagement and connection for systemically marginalized groups?

UFV Course: NURS 403 Nursing Practice (Instructor: Bethany Jeal)

Nursing practice will include simulation, laboratory, and clinical experiences. Students will provide nursing care to individuals, families, and population groups in community settings.

CHALLENGE:

Exploring transportation initiatives and "envisioning energetic Abbotsford using active transportation strategies". Pros, cons and ideas for improvements.

UFV Course: GEOG 300U - Special Topics in Geography (Instructor: Afia Raja)

An opportunity to explore a topic or subfield in a new and significant area of geographical research and scholarship. Topics will be chosen from a wide range of physical, human, regional, and technical areas in geography.

Citizen Satisfaction - Vital Signs

CHALLENGE:

Why should I live in Abbotsford? A statistical analysis focused on the question of “What makes Abbotsford the place to live?”

UFV Course: GEOG 252 - Explanation on Geography: Quantitative Methods (Instructor: Afia Raja)

A numerical approach to problem-solving in geography. Methods in the collection, description, analysis, and presentation of quantitative data will be addressed.

Festival Rebranding Concepts

CHALLENGE:

Redesign and pitch the brand identity for a festival in Abbotsford (real or inspired from anywhere in the world) which supports the City's Culture Connect Strategy - Culture Recovery: "to be ready for recovery and to welcome the community back to culture and the activities, programs, facilities, festivals and events many have missed"

UFV Course: GD374 Brand Identity I: Design (Instructor: Andrew McKinley)

Introduces the specialized field of brand identity in the context of communication design practice. Students create a comprehensive brand identity system that involves design research and strategy, visual language, narrative, collateral, and presentation materials.
