Sustainable Water Future

CHALLENGE:
What can the City, residents, businesses and industries do to shift the balance towards a sustainable water future?

UFV Course: GEOG/CMNS 257 Environment: Science and Communications. (Instructor: Dr. Carin Bondar and Dr. Paul Fontaine)

Chilliwack is surrounded by fresh water, in myriad rivers and aquifers, all replenished by the infamous West Coast rainfall. One may imagine there can be no shortage for existing users and the significant projected future growth. Is that true?

Growing populations, industrial developments and supply commitments all create demands for water that must be balanced against issues of equity, environmental protection, legislative compliance and fiscal responsibility. What may seem an abundant resource may become a constraint to the growth of a city.
