Crossley Park Splash Pad
The City of Abbotsford is planning to construct a new splash pad at Crossley Park next to the existing playground. The new splash pad will complement the existing park amenities and provide park users with a fun, interactive, safe and accessible way to enjoy the park during the hot summer months.
All water used for the water features will be sent though an infiltration system and back into to the ground to recharge the water table. Efforts will be made to keep the park open during the construction period. The new splash pad is expected to be open for public use in the spring of 2025.

Powerforallats asked 5 months agoThank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns and ideas regarding the new splash park project at Crossley Park. Our consultation process for adding new amenities in existing parks includes the following approach: publishing a project Let's Talk Page, mailing out an information postcard, putting up signage in the park, conducting surveys, and answering questions through a Q&A forum.
To address accessibility, we included some questions in the survey to gauge the community's needs for this project, and we will look to incorporate accessibility aspects into the design as feasible. On a broader scale, the City is also developing an Accessibility Plan that will identify, remove, and reduce barriers for individuals within the community. The plan builds on our current accessibility achievements to date and has been created to meet the legislated requirements of the Accessible British Columbia Act. For more information on this initiative, please check out the Let's Talk page: Community Accessibility Plan | Let's Talk Abbotsford (letstalkabbotsford.ca).

Share As a home owner near Crossley park by biggest concern is parking as well. McAdam is completely lined with cars all summer as this park is used frequently by the baseball clubs. My concern is that our residential streets will be lined with visitors to the splash park. Parking is already at a premium with all the rental houses in this area. I do like the idea of a splash park, if you can provide adequate parking or make it clear that people using this area need to park at ARC. Having benches, nice landscaping/trees/ shrubs would be lovely. Is link to see the design plans? on Facebook Share As a home owner near Crossley park by biggest concern is parking as well. JAB34 asked 5 months agoThank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns and ideas regarding the new splash park project at Crossley Park. We understand that parking is a significant concern for residents, especially during the busy summer months when the park is heavily used by baseball clubs. We appreciate your support for the splash park and your suggestions for making the area more enjoyable with benches and landscaping.
Regarding parking, we will not be able to build a new parking lot due to space and budget constraints. However, we will explore how we can address this issue in other ways, such as discussing parking restrictions with our Transportation and Bylaw Enforcement divisions to help manage parking in front of the park and adding signage within the park to advise visitors about the available parking at the ARC.

Share I love this project! Abbotsford needs more splash parks! Without a parking lot at the park how are you accounting foe the extra traffic a splash pad would attract? Especially when events happen such as baseball and soccer games. Thanks! on Facebook Share I love this project! Abbotsford needs more splash parks! ARoss asked 6 months agoThank you for your enthusiasm about the new splash pad project! We're excited to bring this feature to the community. This splash pad will be designed to be a small addition to the existing park, enhancing its appeal without making it a major destination spot like the spray park at Mill Lake. We anticipate that many neighborhood residents will choose to walk to the park. For those that drive, there is convenient public parking available at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC), just a five-minute walk away via a pedestrian-controlled crosswalk. Given the current use of the park for fields and storm detention facilities, there is no space for additional parking. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing the community enjoy this new feature.

Will there be some sort of washroom /changeroom that is part of the project?
13Mo2 asked 6 months agoThank you for your question. While we are excited to add the splash pad to the park, similarly to Shadbolt Park and Spud Murphy Park, there will not be washrooms or changerooms included within the scope of this project.
