To contribute to a food security strategy for Abbotsford by gathering relevant examples and analyzing their potential fit for our region, especially in the context of agriculture and its importance to our local economy.


What does food security have to do with economic development?

In fall 2021, Nathan Burns, 4th Year Economics Student at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) conducted a practicum on food security with the City of Abbotsford.

He spoke to members of the community, including agriculture experts and food justice advocates, as well as City staff, and combed online resources to create a shortlist of relevant examples from around BC.
