An Official Community Plan (OCP) amendment application has been submitted to change the land use designation of 2111 and 2133 Whatcom Road from Secondary Commercial to Urban 1 - Midrise to permit a 6 storey,100-unit apartment building.
We invite you to review the proposed OCP Amendment and provide your feedback below, which will be collected and used to identify key community concerns, and where appropriate, inform revisions to the proposal before it proceeds to Council for consideration.
The subject properties are located at 2111 and 2133 Whatcom Road, just south of the intersection of Old Yale Road and Whatcom Road
The subject properties located at 2111 and 2133 Whatcom Road are currently designated as Secondary Commercial under the Official Community Plan. The Secondary Commercial land use designation permits small and medium format retail centres, generally 1 to 2 storeys. Heights up to 4 storeys are permitted for tourist accommodations.
The applicant is proposing an OCP amendment to change the land use designation from Secondary Commercial to Urban 1 – Midrise.
The proposed Urban 1 Midrise land use designation permits the accommodation of multi storey buildings including low and mid rises up to 6 storeys.
If the proposed OCP amendment is approved by Council, the applicant proposes to rezone the subject properties from Urban Estate Residential Zone (RS1) to Mid Rise Apartment Zone (RMM). The existing structures on the property are proposed to be demolished.
