Stage 1 Update
On July 28, 2026, the project team presented Council with an update on Stage 1 of the City Wastewater Master Plan, highlighting the completion of the Background Review and Data Assessment stage. This work included reviewing the existing wastewater system, identifying key issues and opportunities and establishing the guiding principles and assumptions that will inform the next phases of the Master Plan.
Council directed staff to proceed to Stage 2 – Analysis and Evaluation, where the project team will update and calibrate the wastewater model, assess how the system will perform under future population growth and development scenarios, identify capacity constraints, and prioritize infrastructure upgrades needed to support Abbotsford’s growth over the next 25 years. Stage 2 will also review certain design criteria in the Development Bylaw and identify opportunities for improvement, based on industry best practices.
