The purpose of the City Water Master Plan is to identify the infrastructure upgrades needed to provide safe and reliable drinking water throughout the City over the next 25 years. The City currently provides municipal water to 165,000 residents through approximately 29,500 service connections on residential, agricultural, industrial, commercial, and institutional properties.

As Abbotsford’s grows to 250,000, this Plan will help ensure the City’s water infrastructure continues to meet the needs of the community in a reliable and cost-effective way.

What’s Happening Next:

Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City will be gathering feedback to inform updates to its existing Master Plans. This work will ensure that long-term planning aligns with the priorities outlined in the updated OCP, Council’s Strategic Plan and community input, creating a cohesive and consistent roadmap for Abbotsford toward 2050.
