Stage 1 Update
On July 28, 2026, the project team presented Council with an update on Stage 1 of the Drainage Master Plan, highlighting the completion of the Background Review and Data Assessment stage. This work included reviewing the existing drainage system, identifying key issues and opportunities and establishing the guiding principles and assumptions that will inform the next phases of the Master Plan.
Council directed staff to proceed to Stage 2 – Analysis and Evaluation, where the project team will assess the performance of the City’s drainage system under future growth and climate scenarios, identify infrastructure requirements and prioritize upgrades needed to improve flood resilience and support Abbotsford’s long-term growth. Stage 2 will also review the current stormwater management policies and bylaws to identify opportunities for improvement, based on best practices.
