The purpose of the Fire Rescue Service Master Plan is to identify the equipment, service, staffing and facilities upgrades and investments needed to support Abbotsford growing and changing community over the next 25 years. The plan will help ensure Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) can continue to provide safe reliable and effective emergency response, fire prevention, rescue services and public education as the City grows to a population of 250,000.

The plan will also ensure fire rescue services align with the vision set out in the updated Official Community Plan, support community resilience during emergencies and disasters and identify priorities for future investments in fire halls, equipment, training and emergency response capabilities.

What’s Happening Next:

Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City will be gathering feedback to inform updates to its existing Master Plans. This work will ensure that long-term planning aligns with the priorities outlined in the updated OCP, Council’s Strategic Plan and community input, creating a cohesive and consistent roadmap for Abbotsford toward 2050.
