Stage 1 Update

On July 23, 2026, the project team presented the Joint Shared Services Committee (JSSC) with an update on Stage 1 of the Joint Wastewater Master Plan, highlighting the completion of the Background Review and Data Assessment stage. This work included reviewing the existing system; verifying performance and capacity of each major process area based on historical data; confirming regulatory requirements, preparing for an odour audit, identifying key issues and opportunities and establishing the guiding principles and assumptions that will inform the next phases of the Master Plan.

The JSSC directed staff to proceed to Stage 2 – Analysis and Evaluation, where the project team will develop flows/loads projections to support community growth over the next 25 years, determine remaining capacity for each major process area, conduct odour modeling, determine biogas/energy use, and perform geotechnical/seismic assessment.
