As the cities of Abbotsford and Mission have both updated their Official Community Plans (OCP), it is important to understand the impact of the new OCPs on the Joint Abbotsford Mission Environmental Systems (JAMES) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Joint Wastewater Master Plan will update and define the required infrastructure needs of the treatment plant to meet growth up to 2050, including:

  • Review of current and projected treated wastewater criteria, operational goals and regulatory requirements;
  • Develop a long-term capital program for required infrastructure upgrades including cost and timing;
  • Evaluate and prioritize future upgrade options

What’s Happening Next:

Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City will be gathering feedback to inform updates to its existing Master Plans. This work will ensure that long-term planning aligns with the priorities outlined in the updated OCP, Council’s Strategic Plan and community input, creating a cohesive and consistent roadmap for Abbotsford toward 2050.
