Consultation has concluded

This project adds approximately 1.9km of bikeway and extends in two directions - Parkview Street (north-south) from Peardonville Road to South Fraser Way, then onto Tims street to north of Mouat Drive, the bikeway then turns towards the Matsqui Recreation Centre, crosses over Clearbook Road (east-west) and ends at the intersection of Royal Court and Charlotte Ave.

Thank you for your input on this project!

BACKGROUND:

Planning is underway for a new cycling project that will pick-up where the Salton Road Bridge project left off at Marshall Road. This new "all ages and abilities" connection will install a neighbourhood bikeway between Salton Road and Montrose Avenue, then enhance the existing bike lanes on Bevan Avenue/Peardonville Road to Parkview Street. The need for this cycling route was identified in the City's Transportation and Transit Master Plan as a short-term improvement in the cycling network.

There is an opportunity to partner with the province on this project and there are many features along this route that the City would like to get the public's input on. Cycling features under consideration at this conceptual stage are:

  • intersection push-buttons
  • green conflict marking
  • enhanced lighting
  • bike stencils and wayfinding signage
  • cycling amenity station
