  • Share I do support this! It has always been a challenge for left turners on either side to get on to Townline. One thing I would consider is the street parking on both sides, especially on the west side of upper Maclure. As that usually causes blockages and can lead to one way traffic flow. Also unlike southern I think there needs to be room for right turners to turn on to Townline. So 2 lanes as that can back up badly in school times if left turners and those who want to go straight block them. That would be a major concern, as there are more right turners then left. So try to keep the lane situation like the current. Thanks on Facebook Share I do support this! It has always been a challenge for left turners on either side to get on to Townline. Hi Anna,

Thank you for your comments and your support for the project. The current design of the intersection does not include any lane configuration changes. We are currently exploring whether to add dedicated right-turning road markings to clearly separate out left-turners and right-turners at the western side of Upper Maclure Road, while being cognizant of the fact that many pedestrians cross this road during school hours. Given the existing driveways on the south side of Upper Maclure Road (west of Townline Road), on-street parking in this area is restricted, which should allow for space needed for right-turners to access Townline Road.

  • Share I support changes to this intersection! I live very close and the pedestrian crosswalk has been very helpful. I would like to know how the city will think about when it’s snowy and icy on Townline in regards to any changes to this intersection that require a full stop like a traffic light. Townline is a very dangerous when it’s snowy and icy due to the slope. Cars often get stuck, particularly if they have to stop at the stoplights coming up the hills. on Facebook Share I support changes to this intersection! Hi Vcornelsenfurse,

Thank you for your comments and interest in the project. As part of the developing the designs for the intersection, advanced intersection warning signage (similar to the intersection of Townline Road & Southern Drive, which also has slope challenges) is also being reviewed for consideration. We are also reviewing the slopes and drainage at the intersection such that impacts to vehicles going up and down Townline Road due to inclement weather and poor road surface conditions are minimized.
