Old Yale Road and Yale Court Intersection Improvements
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. The City of Abbotsford intends to improve the approaches to the intersection of Old Yale Road and Yale Court. The proposed intersection improvements will provide benefits to all road users and the community by:
- Enhancing traffic safety for motorists along Old Yale Road through a proposed concrete median to lower speeds and separate traffic streams near the intersection of Yale Court;
- Improving vehicle ingress and egress at the intersection of Yale Court and Old Yale Road; and,
- Enhance pedestrian safety at the marked crosswalk on Yale Court through the installation of curb extensions to reduce pedestrian crossing distance.
Bkuyerover 1 year agoThe future is e-bikes/scooters/bikes
Widening the road and providing a widened + barrier protected bike/pedestrian “sidewalk” on one side could help reduce speed of cars, as well as protect pedestrians. The future is e-bikes/scooters. Let’s get people off the road, and while on the road to slow down (traffic calming measures like bike lanes with barriers + left turn lane here would be beneficial)

Place the light and the crossing line just betwin the arena and the school.
1 comment1Jimover 1 year agoProposed Improvements do not do what they say
While I support barriers & narrowing the crossing distance by reducing corner radii, this does not provide benefits for all road users as described, there is nothing for cyclists or transit users.

Gladwin Road Corridor Improvements
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. The City of Abbotsford intends to improve access on the Gladwin Road corridor between Maclure Road and Garibaldi Drive by providing the following improvements to all roadway users:
- Enhancing vehicle ingress and egress at the Regency Park access through the extension of the existing concrete center median.
- Improving traffic flow on Gladwin Road with clearer laning configuration for the northbound right-turn lanes at Regency Park as well as the Maclure Road and Gladwin Road intersection; and
- Enhance pedestrian safety at the crossing of the Regency Park access with newly installed pedestrian letdowns, concrete median island refuge, and a landscaped buffer area.
Jimover 1 year agoEnhance Pedestrian Safety with Sidewalk level crossing
Make drivers change elevation to cross the sidewalk, rather than pedestrians. This tells / forces drivers to be aware they are crossing a pedestrian space.
1 comment1Dave and Joy Sharpover 1 year agoOriginal planning for traffic from regency park move to Garibaldi through a corridor behind the second high-rise to go through traffic light
1 comment0Airdover 1 year agoGladwin southbound lane is a hazard at Regency Park. Much safer to use the light and turn lane at Garibaldi. (connect the rear laneway)
Block Gladwin southbound access

It is very dangerous trying to turn east on MacLure from southbound on Gladwyn. It could be synced with the existing advanced green turning light when turning west onto MacLure from north bound on Gladwyn.
0 comment4StaySafeabout 1 year agoBehind the towers to Garabaldi
An exit only lane behind the towers to access Garibaldi would be ideal. However, since it would benefit far more than just RP, the city would/should maintain. If there is no change and RP is forced to go around and take Trafalgar, you still can't turn left onto George Ferguson. Additionally, a left turn advance south on Gladwin to east on McLure would be extremely helpful to enter RP from that Gate.
