Old Yale Road and Yale Court Intersection Improvements
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. The City of Abbotsford intends to improve the approaches to the intersection of Old Yale Road and Yale Court. The proposed intersection improvements will provide benefits to all road users and the community by:
- Enhancing traffic safety for motorists along Old Yale Road through a proposed concrete median to lower speeds and separate traffic streams near the intersection of Yale Court;
- Improving vehicle ingress and egress at the intersection of Yale Court and Old Yale Road; and,
- Enhance pedestrian safety at the marked crosswalk on Yale Court through the installation of curb extensions to reduce pedestrian crossing distance.
Martin Hoareover 1 year agoEastbound left turn lane needed
If future left turn lane planned then say so. This half measure (budget) makes little sense otherwise. Pedestrian safety improved but turning not. Concerned that concrete median impacts left turn out of Yale Court for large vehicles. Larger turning radius could put trucks into curb lane eastbound with curve providing little warning for drivers eastbound.

Long overdue to address the traffic at Old Yale and Yale Court. Many people speed (some grossly so) east bound down the hill on Old Yale Road. I would recommend a traffic light at Old Yale Road and Guildfor Drive. Another light at Blatchford and McMillan Road would be a good idea too. People speed north bound down the hill along McMillan once they get past the school zone at McMillan Elementary. The neighbourhood keeps getting busier. With further densification and more development happening (Cooper Farm) it's time to look at the bigger picture.

A round about at the bridge will allow traffic heading west on Old Yale to exit round about onto southbound Sumas Way. This will also help those driving down Beck Road. I live on Yale Court and can tell you turning left to go east on Old Yale is very difficult. A cement barrier will not help this. There is no way to go east from Yale Court without turning left, if you turn right you have to go all the way to Gladys to access Sumas Way, a roundabout would fix this issue.
0 comment1Jasonover 1 year agoTraffic light, roundabout, or turning lane. Speed bumps. Speeding traffic is out of control
Turning on or out of Yale Court is super dangerous. Cars coming down the hill on Old Yale Rd are speeding and distance to see cars is like a blind corner. We need a stop light, double speed bumps to reduce speed and possibly turning lanes.
0 comment2JWessnerover 1 year agoThis is a very dangerous stretch of roadway. Speed bumps would help a lot to slow traffic. One by Guildford and one by the bridge.

Gladwin Road Corridor Improvements
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. The City of Abbotsford intends to improve access on the Gladwin Road corridor between Maclure Road and Garibaldi Drive by providing the following improvements to all roadway users:
- Enhancing vehicle ingress and egress at the Regency Park access through the extension of the existing concrete center median.
- Improving traffic flow on Gladwin Road with clearer laning configuration for the northbound right-turn lanes at Regency Park as well as the Maclure Road and Gladwin Road intersection; and
- Enhance pedestrian safety at the crossing of the Regency Park access with newly installed pedestrian letdowns, concrete median island refuge, and a landscaped buffer area.
NormCover 1 year agoProhibit left turns out of RP. Turn the Glad/Mac junction into a traffic circle. Make NB center lane into SB L turn into RP.

1 comment0Byronover 1 year agoWanted: a left turn signal on Gladwin to turn east onto Maclure. No left turns onto Gladwin from Regency. Access to light at Garibaldi.
Left turns across Gladwin are becoming increasingly dangerous because of traffic. There is an entrance on Maclure that goes into the Regency. Left turn light at Gladwin onto Maclure going east would facilitate use of this entrance.
0 comment0barrymerrittover 1 year agoWidening of the sidewalk would require vehicles turning left from RP to enter the busy traffic lanes. Do the RP median extension only!
And, please keep the Left Turn option into RP from southbound Gladwin open! It would be only two lanes of NB traffic after the improvements!

Put a shelter at the space that was provided by Central Park Village for a future transit stop, as well as trash cans, etc. It's time for transit on Gladwin!
