The regional water supply system delivers drinking water to Abbotsford and Mission. As described in each city’s Official Community Plan, the combined population is anticipated to exceed 300,000 over the next 25 years. The Joint Water Master Plan will evaluate the long‑term capacity and reliability of the system, consider climate uncertainties, and identify infrastructure actions to support community development in a cost‑effective and sustainable manner.

Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City will be gathering feedback to inform updates to its existing Master Plans. This work will ensure that long-term planning aligns with the priorities outlined in the updated OCP, Council’s Strategic Plan and community input, creating a cohesive and consistent roadmap for Abbotsford toward 2050.
