Plan for 2050: Shaping Abbotsford’s Future

The City of Abbotsford has launched Plan for 2050, a coordinated update of key service and infrastructure Master Plans to support and accommodate the growth and vision set out in our updated Official Community Plan (OCP), which was adopted by Council in December 2025.

Throughout the process, Plan for 2050 will provide multiple opportunities for the community to participate and provide input into how Abbotsford will grow, evolve, and thrive over the coming decades, ensuring that future operations, development, infrastructure, services, amenities, and programs align with the direction set out in the OCP and Council’s Strategic Plan.

Why Plan for 2050 Matters

The OCP sets the vision for how Abbotsford will grow and develop into the future. Plan for 2050 turns that vision into action by aligning City services and programs set out in each departmental Master Plan under one clear framework. In this way, the City can make informed, connected decisions that support sustainable growth, resilient infrastructure, vibrant neighbourhoods, and quality services for residents, today and into the future.

What’s Happening Next:

Throughout 2026 and 2027, the City will be gathering feedback to inform updates to our existing Master Plans. This work will ensure that long-term planning aligns with the priorities outlined in the updated OCP, Council’s Strategic Plan and community input, creating a cohesive and consistent roadmap for Abbotsford toward 2050.
